Organize Your Home as a Working Mom

It's 9 pm. The kids are already in bed, the kitchen is a mess, so is the bathroom, living room and piles of dirty laundry are lying around. How can you do it all and be in bed by 10:30 to be able to go to work in the morning?

edit Steps

  1. 1
Make lists. Lists mean you are organized and you prioritize whats important and what can be done on a week end.
  2. 2
Clean the kitchen. Everything around the house can be postponed, but a dirty kitchen can really get on your nerves, and makes you feel guilty every time you see the sink full of dirty dishes. So you do the dishes, then clean the counters, then mop the floor if you have time. If not, just put an wet rag on the floor and clean any stains, that way you will cheat your way to a clean kitchen.
  3. 3
Clean the living room. Bring a box and put all the stuff that does not belong in the living room (such as your kids' toys) into that box. Place the couchons of the couch in a tidy way and if you have the time or energy you can vacuum your carpet. You will get yourself a clean living room.
  4. 4
Clean the bathroom. Nothing feels better like waking up in the morning and going to a clean bathroom, make this your last task for the day. That way you will feel great about yourself giving your house and kids such a shiny clean bathroom, and cheating your way to a clean bathroom is really easy. Start by cleaning the toilet by the brush and toilet cleaner (any kind), then clean the edges of the bathtub and apply some cleanser to the sink while cleaning the bathtub and the toilet. That way, by the time you finish them you do not need to scrub the sink. Put a wet rag under your feet and move it around the floor of the bathroom and that shall make it shine.

edit Tips

  • You are a working mom. So its not about cleaning the house up and down, its more about a house that looks clean and that pleases the eye.
  • In the weekends, we all want to get some sleep, but instead you can wake up early and get a clean house that is up to your standards, thats by giving your morning time to house projects, like organizing your wardrobe, cleaning the kitchen cabinets.
  • Keep it simple, do not over do things,or put a lot of things that need to be done in a weekday that is more than you have energy for, just be realistic.
  • If you can afford it, why not get help of some professional housekeepers? There are those who work part time like two days a week. that shall save you a lot of energy and guilt over the dirty house.
